During the Sixties indenting business was the monopoly of a few multinational European and American companies with their offices in Bombay , Calcutta and customers had few options. It was during these times some enterprising individuals with few resources at their command started the indenting firms and broke the monopoly of these firms.

These new entrants located their suppliers from East Europe , Japan and also smaller manufactures of West Europe. One of them was Mapin Industrial Company established in 1966 by Mr. N. M. Desai at Calcutta.

Since 1966 we have worked as indenting agents during different import Regulations. In Sixties with US Aid licenses. In Seventies with GCA,UK Credit, and Rupee Payment area Licenses. In Eighties with REP and Advance Licenses, then in Nineties from Stiffling 100% margins on imports to complete liberalized import of 93-94. Through all these years Mapin has grown and prospered becoming one of the reliable indenting agents.
